Does Bin Laden Read Daily Kos? Or, Muhjadeen About Nothing.

Thu Jan 19, 2006 at 03:16:34 PM PDT

Today, the CIA confirms that Bin Laden is alive an well.

Apparently he's released a new underground tape today that makes Bin Laden appear to be remarkably well tuned in to our most famous grievances with Bush.

My message to you is about the wars in
Iraq and Afghanistan and how to end them. I did not intend to speak to you about this because this issue has already been decided. Only metal breaks metal, and our situation, thank God, is only getting better and better, while your situation is the opposite of that.

But I plan to speak about the repeated errors your
President Bush has committed in comments on the results of your polls that show an overwhelming majority of you want the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. But he (Bush) has opposed this wish and said that withdrawing troops sends the wrong message to opponents, that it is better to fight them (bin Laden's followers) on their land than their fighting us (Americans) on our land.

Full transcript inside the box.

I can reply to these errors by saying that war in Iraq is raging with no let-up, and operations in Afghanistan are escalating in our favor, thank God, and
Pentagon figures show the number of your dead and wounded is increasing not to mention the massive material losses, the destruction of the soldiers' morale there and the rise in cases of suicide among them. So you can imagine the state of psychological breakdown that afflicts a soldier as he gathers the remains of his colleagues after they stepped on land mines that tore them apart. After this situation the soldier is caught between two hard options. He either refuses to leave his military camp on patrols and is therefore dogged by ruthless punishments enacted by the Vietnam Butcher (U.S. army) or he gets destroyed by the mines. This puts him under psychological pressure, fear and humiliation while his nation is ignorant of that (what is going on). The soldier has no solution except to commit suicide. That is a strong message to you, written by his soul, blood and pain, to save what can be saved from this hell. The solution is in your hands if you care about them (the soldiers).

So Bin Laden has access to our poll results and to Pentagon figures? It's amazing what you can do from a cave these days. Maybe he's hacking wi-fi access from the local camel dealership.

The news of our brother mujahideen (holy warriors) is different from what the Pentagon publishes. They (the news of mujahideen) and what the media report is the truth of what is happening on the ground. And what deepens the doubt over the White House's information is the fact that it targets the media reporting the truth from the ground. And it has appeared lately, supported by documents, that the butcher of freedom in the world (Bush) had decided to bomb the headquarters of the Al-Jazeera in Qatar after bombing its offices in Kabul and Baghdad.

The only thing missing here is the acronym MSM.

On another issue, jihad (holy war) is ongoing, thank God, despite all the oppressive measures adopted by the U.S Army and its agents (which is) to a point where there is no difference between this criminality and Saddam's criminality, as it has reached the degree of raping women and taking them as hostages instead of their husbands.

Bin Laden seems to be forgetting that Abu Ghraib was the handi-work of a few bad apples.

As for torturing men, they have used burning chemical acids and drills on their joints. And when they give up on (interrogating) them, they sometimes use the drills on their heads until they die. Read, if you will, the reports of the horrors in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo prisons.

Well Bin laden already has one up on Ol' George Bush. He is apparently an avid reader. Wonder where he read about this?

And I say that, despite all the barbaric methods, they have not broken the fierceness of the resistance. The mujahideen, thank God, are increasing in number and strength -- so much so that reports point to the ultimate failure and defeat of the unlucky quartet of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz. Declaring this defeat is just a matter of time, depending partly on how much the American people know of the size of this tragedy. The sensible people realize that Bush does not have a plan to make his alleged victory in Iraq come true.

Flattery will get you everywhere you silly monkey.

And if you compare the small number of dead on the day that Bush announced the end of major operations in that fake, ridiculous show aboard the aircraft carrier with the tenfold number of dead and wounded who were killed in the smaller operations, you would know the truth of what I say. This is that Bush and his administration do not have the will or the ability to get out of Iraq for their own private, suspect reasons.

Fake ridiculous show aboard the aircraft carrier? Man this guy is really on top of his Bush bashin game.

And so to return to the issue, I say that results of polls please those who are sensible, and Bush's opposition to them is a mistake. The reality shows that the war against America and its allies has not been limited to Iraq as he (Bush) claims. Iraq has become a point of attraction and restorer of (our) energies. At the same time, the mujahideen (holy warriors), with God's grace, have managed repeatedly to penetrate all security measures adopted by the unjust allied countries. The proof of that is the explosions you have seen in the capitals of the European nations who are in this aggressive coalition. The delay in similar operations happening in America has not been because of failure to break through your security measures. The operations are under preparation and you will see them in your homes the minute they are through (with preparations), with God's permission.

I don't like the sound of this part. Sounds like he's not talking about staging a sit-in.

Based on what has been said, this shows the errors of Bush's statement -- the one that slipped from him -- which is at the heart of polls calling for withdrawing the troops. It is better that we (Americans) don't fight Muslims on their lands and that they don't fight us on ours.

Here he's saying that the Madrid bombings disprove Bush's whole "Fight them there so we don't have to fight them here".
Someone get this guy a screenname.

We don't mind offering you a long-term truce on fair conditions that we adhere to. We are a nation that God has forbidden to lie and cheat. So both sides can enjoy security and stability under this truce so we can build Iraq and Afghanistan, which have been destroyed in this war. There is no shame in this solution, which prevents the wasting of billions of dollars that have gone to those with influence and merchants of war in America who have supported Bush's election campaign with billions of dollars -- which lets us understand the insistence by Bush and his gang to carry on with war.

The sad thing is, that he's actually onto something here. But we'd never go for it because of friggin John Wayne.
That dude really fucked us up when it comes to knowing when to make a face-saving gesture for both sides. A truce?
Could it work? Would it work? We will never know because we are too goddamned proud to try it.

If you (Americans) are sincere in your desire for peace and security, we have answered you. And if Bush decides to carry on with his lies and oppression, then it would be useful for you to read the book "Rogue State," which states in its introduction: "If I were president, I would stop the attacks on the United States: First I would give an apology to all the widows and orphans and those who were tortured. Then I would announce that American interference in the nations of the world has ended once and for all."

Look out Oprah. Here comes Bin Ladens book club.

Finally, I say that war will go either in our favor or yours. If it is the former, it means your loss and your shame forever, and it is headed in this course. If it is the latter, read history! We are people who do not stand for injustice and we will seek revenge all our lives. The nights and days will not pass without us taking vengeance like on Sept. 11, God permitting. Your minds will be troubled and your lives embittered. As for us, we have nothing to lose. A swimmer in the ocean does not fear the rain. You have occupied our lands, offended our honor and dignity and let out our blood and stolen our money and destroyed our houses and played with our security and we will give you the same treatment.

A swimmer in the ocean does not fear the rain. Terrorist or not, that is a pretty good line. Mind if I use that one some time Bin Laden?

You have tried to prevent us from leading a dignified life, but you will not be able to prevent us from a dignified death. Failing to carry out jihad, which is called for in our religion, is a sin. The best death to us is under the shadows of swords. Don't let your strength and modern arms fool you. They win a few battles but lose the war. Patience and steadfastness are much better. We were patient in fighting the Soviet Union with simple weapons for 10 years and we bled their economy and now they are nothing.

In that there is a lesson for you.

You have tried to prevent us from leading a dignified life, but you will not be able to prevent us from a dignified death.
Again, this dude makes me think he missed his calling as either a preacher or a poet. Well I guess he is a preacher sort of. And the ominous final touch of this paragraph is really artfully placed don't you think?
In that there is a lesson for you. I mean the delivery is note-perfect. I like imagining Morgan Freeman delivering that last paragraph. It really sounds artsy that way.

Anyway, the point of my posting this is that I'm going to go ahead and commit sacrelige and say that there are some things about what is written here that i actually agree with.

I mean when you read this, he actually does make some sense.
I disagree with him that the solution to his peoples problems is to blow up shit with people in it, but other than that, he makes some nice points.

The thing that bugs me about most people is that there are some things written in this that could actually help us win the war on terra. If we realized that some of our policies are hurtful and wrong and are causing death and misery halfway arouind the globe. If we really committed to change our ways because we are really pissing these people off. If we could just admit that we are somewhat in the wrong here.

But we never will. We will attribute these words to the mind of a madman and we'll keep dropping cruise missiles on some poor bastards wedding in Pankhatajoob and hope we kill a bad guy.

Terrorism is wrong. Plain and simple. But there are entire communities who face enourmous death everyday. If it were you, if it were your family who was getting bombs dropped on it. If you had a wife who you held in your arms while chemicals burned their way past her skin and into her bones and there was nothing you could do to stop it.

If that were you. Would 9/11 seem so horrible to you?

To us, the rain is still terrifying.

      •  So what do you think it is? (none / 0)

A fake, designed to make Bin laden sound like your average Democrat?

Or worse, a precurser to something horrible about to happen, that the government will point back to and say, "Listen to this terrorist" He sounds just like Ted Kennedy?

        •  That idea doesnt hold water. (none / 0)

If its fake and thats the idea behind it, its pretty pathetic. He's calling a spade a spade, and thats not going to alter the reality for us. Like, Im not suddenly going to think that Bush is winning the war on terror because OBL says we arent. Cuz we arent. And the fact that he's alive only underscores this and makes me angrier at Bush. OBL is still alive to essentially mock and humiliate him (us).

Like someone said in a different thread about this, a broken clock is right twice a day.

I think if its fake, its not an inside job. There must be thousands of folks in the region who would love to fuck with our heads, if for no other reason than for the rush.

back and forth between those two options today...I realize I've got no proof...but this tape is just SO convenient!

I mean...Bush's poll numbers are down...here comes Bin Laden to scare everyone back into President "daddy's" arms...thank goodness for the reminder of 9/11 9/11 9/11...and the big bad terrorists.

          Pathetic.

And in addition to that, it also seems convenient that Bush was JUST saying that talk of bringing home the troops was playing into the hands of the terrorists. Now Bin Laden conveniently shows up on video to say the same damn thing!?

          Just isn't quite right.

    •  CIA thinks it's him (none / 0)

      CNN online

(CNN) -- CIA officials believe an audiotaped message threatening the United States is from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who warns that plans for terror attacks are under way -- and also offers a "long-term truce."

Of course, Scottie McWayne farts in the general direction of truce:

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the tape suggested bin Laden was "under pressure." He also dismissed the idea of a truce, saying, "We must confront threats before it is too late ... before the attacks reach our shores."

So convenient that, knowing he is the Number One hated man in America, he proposes courses of action that are against what Bush wants.

Thereby insuring the American public will feel compelled to side with Bush's policies rather than Bin Laden's. And all done in Madison Avenue language.

Bull and Shit. This is just like the "Vote for Kerry" bin Laden message out of nowhere. Perfectly timed for the weekend news cycle, perfectly worded for Bush to pummel his critics with, perfectly non-useful for bin Laden or al Qaida.

Especially the "Oh, your security is so perfect I can't attack, but still be scared," quotes.

    •  Also, there is no way (none / 1)

that Bin Laden invokes the phrase "opinion polls".  This is a total red-flag Bushism there.  The fish/audiotape stinks from the head up.  I call BS on it.  And I guarantee we'll see another tape before election 2006 and election 2008.

  •  The one true indicator (4.00 / 2)

is if the Bush administration says it's authentic.  Everything that comes out of those bastard's mouths are lies.  The White House freakin treats Bin Laden's presence like a small annoyance and no one calls them on it.  Another warning flag is the fact that Bin Laden supposedly is confusing the entire "War on Fear" the exact same way Bush does, that Iraq is the end all arena.  If we leave Iraq, we are giving up on Osama.  The two used to have nothing to do with each other and shouldn't still.

Cheney Says bin Laden Offer Sounds Like a Ploy

WASHINGTON (Jan. 19) - Vice President Dick Cheney said a conditional truce offer in a tape attributed to al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on Thursday appeared to be a ploy, but he was not ready to draw any conclusions.

Asked about the offer, Cheney told Fox News in an interview, "I'm not sure what he's offering by way of a truce. I don't think anybody would believe him. ... It sounds to me like it's some kind of a ploy, but again not having seen the entire text or validated the tape and the timing of it, I'm reluctant to draw any conclusions."

Bin Laden warned that the group was preparing new attacks inside the United States. But he said al Qaeda was willing to "respond" to U.S. public opinion in favor of withdrawing troops from Iraq. He did not specify conditions for the truce, but indicated that it was linked to U.S. troops quitting Iraq.

It was the first purported tape by bin Laden since 2004. Al Jazeera television, which aired the tape, said it was recorded in December.

A CIA official in Washington said U.S. intelligence analysts had authenticated the audio tape as a genuine message from bin Laden following a technical analysis.

Hey, look, I also just got an email message from Osama bin Laden!

"The infidels, like in your so-called K-Street project, will never be victorious for we are patient and like your Abramoff contribute equally to both sides of your defeat.

As you flee from Iraq and do not dare to attack our brothers in Syria and Iran because you are like the gay cowboys in your movies, remember that I offer you a truce.

My truce is send all of your Hollywood DVDs to me care of Al Jazeera and burn all your Christian bibles and we will have peace.

Otherwise, all small towns in America face destruction.  Becuase you are gay.

    Love,
    Osama"

  •  OBL's rationale (none / 0)

OBL made this speech because the teaching of Islam requires that he offer peace before attacking. He was criticized by fellow Muslims for not doing this before 9/11, and this is the second time he has done issues a warning, the first being just prior to the election, which many though was an attempt in aid of Kerry. The message is get off our backs and we'll get of yours, or get ready for another 9/11.  If you want to negotiate your way out of here honorably now instead of later desperately, or be forced to withdraw in humiliation as your were from Vietnam, now is the time.

    Live unity, celebrate diversity.
