Surefire Way 2 win in 2008 w\ poll

Every once in a while I have what I think is a brilliant idea.

Today I was struck with one of those ideas.

If the next Democratic candidate for the President of the United states were to use this idea, I think I could virtually guarantee a landslide victory.

I share this with you now, in the vain hope that by some miracle, these words may possibly be read by someone, someone who knows of someone who knows someone.
Hey, you never know. I hear alot of politicos hang out here.

And perhaps this well connected individual could get word of this to Kevin Bacon, who could then get word of this brilliant, yet simple idea to this Presidential Wannabe.

If so, 2008 is in the bag.

I know that's promising a lot, but just bear with me and tell me if you don't think this would work.
Of course it will help if this candidate has a good platform, but even that will become of secondary importance to this one swift, brilliant stroke.

This Presidential hopeful need only make one simple declarative statement:

For history changing statement, look inside this box!!

Statement:
"If I am elected to this great office, my first official act will be to abolish the position of Press Secretary."

Bam! That's it. Simple right?

Now that you've got their attention Mr./Mrs Presidential Hopeful, hit them with this:

"The daily press briefing will henceforth be delivered by Myself, or in the event of more pressing presidential matters, the Vice President. In this way, and only in this way will a sense of accountability be restored to this White House, and in this way we can begin to heal the wounds caused by secrecy at the highest levels of government. In this way, we may begin to mend this devastating division that has risen in this great nation of ours "

Now that's Presidential talkin right there. Makes Bush's straight shootin act look downright silly.

The press would love it. And if the press likes you, your already more than halfway there. Of course Democrats would love it. And lastly, all those hard-to-win over Independents, who mainly like to see politicians working outside the box,( ie: Perot and his charts, Jesse Ventura) would simply eat-it-up.

I'm pretty sure, but not positive, that even a lot of Republicans would find the idea to be so novel and fresh as to find it hard to resist voting for this candidate just to see what life would be like.

So that's it. One idea that could restore power to the Democrats and the only catch is that politicians at the highest levels would actually be held accountable to the public for their misdeeds.

Perhaps we will never eliminate spin, but perhaps with politicians actually having to explain their actions in person it wouldn't make all of us so goddamned dizzy.

Alas, my hopes are not high for this brilliant idea to find it's way to fruition, but there it is.

My real fear is that there actually does not exist,a Democratic politician who would have the courage to buck the status quo, not to mention actually subjecting themselves to the supposed horror of facing actual scrutiny.
I mean, let's face it. deep down, they are all crooks right? Nothing ever really changes, right?

Or could it?

Naaaahhhhhhhh!!!
