Exactly 14 days ago/CNN's Aaron Brown + Crawl

Mon Sep 12, 2005 at 07:18:34 PM PDT

Aug. 29th CNN's Aaron Brown's Show- I transcribed the highlights off my Tivo. This is some of the first reporting coming in from the ground in New Orleans

I happened to have saved Aaron Brown's show "NewsNight" from Monday, Aug. 29th. The reason I did was Jeanne Meserve's report that I will remember for the rest of my life. I have transcribed several parts of it to share with you. I also included Mark Biello's interview who was the CNN  photographer with Jeanne Meserve. Also included Ray Bias Local EMS who called in from the Super Dome. I am also including parts of the crawl. Remember this show aired MONDAY NIGHT, AUG. 29th,  at 11pm est, 8 pst.

  Jump now.

Randy Newmans LOUISIANA

Wed Aug 31, 2005 at 01:26:48 AM PDT

Randy Newmans songs..A lot of them are about New Orleans, Louisiana. The South during a difficult time...the songs show what a political man Mr. Newman is...Based on what's been going on down in New Orleans, LA., Alabama, and Mississippi..I just wanted to share some of Mr. Newmans Prophetic Lyrics..Although some of them were written in the early 70's, they seems so perfect for right now.

If you want to read some great lyrics jump, if not...that's cool.

CNN's-Political Play of the week.

Fri Aug 05, 2005 at 02:20:26 PM PDT

Just finished watching the final episode of CNN's "Inside Politics". I guess they are starting a new show in that time slot starting Monday. They said it would be called "The Situation Room" and might include more political talk than "Inside Politics" had. Whatever. During the final segment...Bill Schnieder did his Final "Political Play of the Week" and it went to "SWING STATE PROJECT". It was awesome. It talked all about the Progressive blogs and how they raised over 1/2 Million dollars for Paul Hackett.

My Rad Right Wing Bro-in-Law comes around

Mon Jun 20, 2005 at 01:42:42 AM PDT

My sister has been married to this guy for about 20 years. I love my sister. She has 2 amazing son's..straight A students, really smart kids. Because of her and my Nephews I have put up with her husband, their Father, for way to long. Well, Today was Father's day. So there I am over at my sisters house with the Family again.

Cut to: Father's Day maybe about 14 years ago, my rightwingnut Brother in Law used to go on and on about Howard Stern and how funny he was..."You gotta listen to Howard Stern..he is a riot..You will love him", I think not, I think, I am not a racist or sexist and I appreciate a different kind of humor, I ignor him.

jump with me and my wingnut bro in law.

Email I received from Dobson Mob

Wed Jun 15, 2005 at 01:08:27 AM PDT

Ok..I received this email today...I copied some of it...It is from someone's Mother that I knew about 12 years ago. (the mother is probably about 48 and lives near St. Louis.) I worked with this womans daughter on a show for about 3 months. I haven't seen or spoken to these people since. I have no idea how she even got my email (but as you will read..she alone, needs to send this Dobson letter to 1,000 people.)

They have no idea what my life style/ religion is...They basically know nothing about me. I guess Dobson's troops are getting stronger by the day. Mass emailing their grass roots base. These people are on their way to making America a Christian Nation. I just cannot believe the scare tactics they use with unintelligent Fox news watching sheep in middle America.

The Email is on the flip with my response.

Diaries & Comments, Whose am I missing?

Wed May 25, 2005 at 09:30:42 PM PDT

Well I have been around here for over 6 months now, so I am not a seasoned Kossack, but not an infant. I have not written many diaries, but I love the Diaries and love to comment. I cannot believe over 18,000 people have joined since my arrival. I have my regular authors I read. I also love to go into the comments of certain people and check them out. However, with over 50k folks coming and going I am just wondering how many diarist and great comments are falling through the cracks for me and maybe you.

So how about a little game of I've got a secret? (or you tell me yours, I'll tell you mine?)

My City Clerk heard me...

Tue May 17, 2005 at 06:29:42 PM PDT

I wrote a diary April 16th titled "Beware-Inka Voting" it was my 3rd diary and had 13 comments, but I know more people read it. I live in LA. I had a nightmarish experience voting earlier this year, and it was due to terrible voting machines called "Inka Voting". We are voting for a new mayor. My ink smeared on my first 2 ballots (I am a smart guy damnit!), finally as I handled my 3rd one with kid gloves it was not spoiled and I placed it in the box.

I wrote my diary back then warning others to watch for Inka Voting. They used smearing ink and guess what...IT SMEARS. I also called and wrote our SOS and City Clerk in regards to the ink they used and let them know it was smearing and spoiling ballots (along with getting all over me).

                   (keep reading please)

Write to WP re: Aaron Brown

Tue Apr 26, 2005 at 12:14:51 PM PDT

There is a lot of complaining here about the media. How they get the stories wrong. How they are tools for the Rightwing. How some of them just support the Bush propaganda machine. I agree with most of it. We have started to make inroads and I believe what we are doing here at Dkos is working.  We must  continue to write letters, make calls and let our voices be heard. Starting now is what it is about. We cannot let the far right continue to dominate the headlines with their lies and Bullshit propaganda. Before we know it mid terms will be here ('06) and after that...'08.

Change takes time and can happen in small doses. One particular change, albiet a small one, that I feel can happen and help in the long run is with Aaron Brown's show.."NewsNight with Aaron Brown" on CNN. I really believe Aaron is fair, some here may disagree with me, however I have been watching his show for several years and I feel though sometimes he plays Devil's advocate, but most of the time he is fighting the good fight and is a lib at heart.

Beware: INKA VOTING

Sat Apr 16, 2005 at 01:07:48 PM PDT

Ok...Perhaps sometimes my spelling isn't the best..(i do use a dictionary, except when it's late or my eyes are tired). My grammer may also leave little to be desired, but I continue to work on both of the above. But I am a bright guy. I have been voting since I was legal. I was never aware of voting machine problems until Bush v Gore '00. As a matter of fact, I always assumed our government (local & Federal) had their shit together in regards to voting machines and counting all the votes. Like the best of you...I can certainly pick up a pen and punch the holes of the candidates, issues, measures that are on the ballot. I live in Los Angeles County...Our county is a major Democratic strong hold in our blue state.

"Medecins Sans Frontieres" is Awesome.

Fri Mar 11, 2005 at 02:11:03 PM PDT

I just received a "Thank You" letter for my donation in regards to the South Asia Tsunami Relief and other Unmet Needs. AKA "Doctors Without Borders" is an amazing organization, they are often the first relief org. to arrive at the scene of an emergency and the last to leave. They go into the most remote and dangerous parts of the world. They also speak out against human rights abuses and violations of international humanitarian law that it's teams witness while providing medical relief.

MSF was founded in 1971 by a small group of FRENCH Doctors, today more than 2,500 doctors, nurses, other medical professionals, and logisticians from 45 nations volunteer each year. They work in all most 80 countries.

Becoming Tippi Hedren?

Thu Dec 23, 2004 at 01:01:59 AM PDT

ok..it all started with two "love birds", and then "I had my eyes pecked out, and the rest is history". Now Strange things are happening here too. There were rumblings on a local radio station saying that people were standing around Malls, knocking on doors with petitions to get sig's to get our Dem. governor recalled. I laughed.(I see a couple of blue jays on my mailbox). I mean our power bills were like 3 times the norm and we did have rolling blackouts during that summer, but recalling the Gov? Next thing..Out of the blue we have a new Governor...yup..you know the guy..Mr. Movie Star.(now, there is a row of birds hanging out on my telephone wire out back and they won't go away.)
